Hi there, I’m Paul. I have been a Registered Social Worker for over 25 years now and have been providing therapy to young adults, adults, and seniors for the past dozen years. Through that time, I have supported individuals with their mental health journey, whether they were touched by trauma, are navigating a physical health issue, struggling with a relationship challenge, are experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, loss, job stress, a life transition, or, really, anything causing them distress.
My first priority in session is to make you feel comfortable, safe, and heard. From there I use multiple modalities that I have learned over the years, although I gravitate toward helping clients give themselves permission to feel their feelings, encouraging them to accept that certain life challenges have happened so how do we move forward, and to teach and practice self-compassion, which is, essentially, being kind to yourself. I frequently teach meditation and mindfulness practices to help foster emotional balance and self-awareness. I will use CBT strategies and other modalities I have learned over the years as needed. My aim is to create a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your feelings and experiences while finding ways to move towards comfort and healing.

Trying to find a counsellor is a deeply personal endeavor. You can search through many therapy profiles, or get a referral from a family member or a friend, but no two experiences are the same. You need to listen to your instincts. Therapy is all about the right fit, meaning are you comfortable with the therapist you have chosen. To that end, I have set up my office at 186 Albert Street to be as welcoming as possible. When you are here, I will listen with empathy and compassion. I will look to reframe to the positive and highlight your strengths. I will strive to provide hope where you may be struggling to see it. My aim is to bring comfort, support, and healing to your situation.
